About Shikosha

Smiles are what we live for at Shikosha Dental Laboratory. We’ve been creating smiles for sixty years and are proud to be a local, family-owned business that fabricates its products in-house in Portland, Oregon. Shikosha is a certified, full-service dental lab serving Portland, Seattle, and the greater northwest with an expert-level team of technicians skilled in the complex art and science of dental restoration.

Shikosha was founded in 1963 by Tak Yoshida in Yokohama, Japan. In 2011, Tak’s son, Nick, took over leadership with a vision to grow and navigate the lab through the digital age of dentistry. Shikosha’s Mission is to be the premier, fully-integrated dental solutions provider in the NW by providing clients with the most accessible and comprehensive support and service available in the market.

60th Anniversary!

2023 is our anniversary! Smiles are what we live for at Shikosha Dental Laboratory, and we’ve been creating smiles for 60 years now, starting in 1963 in Yokohama, Japan. Throughout its history, Shikosha has had branches in Los Angles, Guam, Honolulu, and Seattle and has consistently been a pioneer and leader in the industry. Tak Yoshida established the Portland branch in 1976 and consolidated all of his business to its current SE Portland location to become one of the largest privately-owned dental labs in the region.

Lab of the Year!

Shikosha was awarded 2023 "Laboratory Member of the Year" by the National Association of Dental Laboratories! The prestigious award is offered to only one lab nationwide each year, and we are humbled and grateful to have received it. We’ll continue working hard to improve our products and stay ahead of the digital curve.

Accepting the award at the ceremony in Las Vegas was Toyoe Yoshida (Shikosha’s owner and the wife of Shikosha’s founder, Tak Yoshida) as well as Toyoe’s daughter, Miyuki, and our Vice President, Carrie Peil, CDT.

Certified Dental Lab

Shikosha is certified by the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology, the independent board founded by the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL), in Crown & Bridge, Ceramics, and Complete Dentures.

The Certified Dental Laboratory (CDL) provides assurance that a laboratory has met specific standards relating to quality assurance, safety, and business manufacturing practices. By earning and maintaining the CDL designation, a dental laboratory is always monitoring and attempting to improve the quality and efficiency of their services and facilities.

The CDL is recognized by the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL), the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP).
